Our member clubs will elect/reelect two Board positions in 2018. Our clubs will vote for 1 At-Large board member position and the Secretary position. As an organization, we actively encourage people to put themselves forward for election, and are seeking people that have a willingness to serve the LGBTQ tennis community. We require our Board members to be "workers" and not seek a position for other reasons.  There is no remuneration, no free entries to tournaments or travel expenses to attend tournaments.  We do provide limited travel expenses to attend 2 mandatory Board meetings each year. Our current by-laws requires that at least one Board member must reside in Europe. If a European is not elected this year, the GLTA Board will consider appointing a European to the current vacant Board position previously held by a European.

Each GLTA Board member has a variety of responsibilities that include serving as a liaison for a number of GLTA sanctioned tournaments to ensure compliance with GLTA sanctioning requirements. Also, additional specific tasks e.g. for the Secretary-work involves approximately 25+ hours of volunteer work each week. Our Rankings Chair processes all of the player files for each tournament ; a very time consuming role within the GLTA. Other board responsibilities include responding to players and other organization enquiries. Our President will respond to 100's + emails a month in addition to their other duties. Our Web and Facebook communication teams are critical key members of our Board, and require extensive hours of work each week. If you have any questions regarding the responsibilities, please do not hesitate to contact one of our current Board members.
New for 2018, the GLTA Board has added qualifiers for self nomination, and they include:
1.  Previous/Current club leadership position.
2.  Knowledge of the Tournament Software program.
3.  Marketing /Social Media Experience.
4.  Ability to collaborate and history of successful teamwork.
We have selected two non-GLTA Board members to monitor the self-nomination process, and to monitor and audit the voting. If you are interested in running for a position on The Board, please send an email of interest to Tim Ross-Director of the Detroit tournament at and Luis Perez-Director of Madrid Open at  You will be required to complete and submit a short manifesto. We will accept self-nominations until 11:59pm EST on November 4, 2018. Each GLTA sanctioned club has one vote, and the club vote should reflect the views of their entire local membership. Our member clubs will vote from November 6, 2018 to November 20, 2018 (ballots are due by 11:59 pm EST) and the 2018 GLTA Executive Board of Directors will be announced shortly after the November 20th deadline.
