Information regarding your GLTA ID

Every GLTA player has their unique player ID. Until 2002, it had been requested that players use the last 6 digits of their social security number. We’ve moved away from this requirement (in 2002) when more international players were playing tournaments and ID numbers showed to be no longer unique. Since then every player could choose their own number of up to 6 digits.

Player IDs have always been trackable online, but with the introduction of the new ranking software it is now even more trackable. Over the years we’ve noticed that many players sign up for tournaments with different IDs from what they previously used. By making IDs available online, we hope that this will be reduced and that players will consistently use the same ID.

The GLTA Board fully understands why a player may want to change their ID. Changing an ID is NOT easy, since we need to recalculate all previous tournaments, but if a player insists on changing their ID, it can be done. Simply email rankings@glta.net and include your old and new IDs. We will make the change.

Thanks!
The GLTA Executive Board
